Let me introduce myself…
I’m Clara, a London-based PR, marketing, social media and digital professional. I had my own successful PR/social/digital agency which I founded, grew and then sold.
I’ve worked with start-ups and with some of the World’s biggest brands, across deliberately diverse sectors. Honda, PC World, lastminute.com, HeyGreenGo, Userfarm, pod restaurants, Flying Pig Helicopters, ING Direct, Defaqto, Poundland and musicMagpie are just some of the brands I’m proud to have worked with.
Since selling my agency in 2012, I have operated as a consultant, working with brands with big ambitions, which need support in creating and communicating compelling offerings to their target audiences.
My experience in running my own company gives me a commercial edge – I support my clients from a marketing and PR perspective, but with a company’s commercial requirements at the centre of my thinking and recommendations.
I take a strategic and creative approach and develop a communications programme which cuts through clutter, is relevant to the end audiences and delivers the desired results. I achieve this by understanding a brand’s marketplace inside out, its target audiences (the audiences’ profiles, current options, frustrations) and the channels relevant to the target audiences (from social media through to email marketing; from press through to key influencers and events), its differentiators and its ‘sense of purpose’ – that is, its non-financial reason for existing.
Being a grounded and hands-on individual, my strategic outlook is just the start. I then implement all aspects of the communications programme in a coordinated fashion, ensuring content, hooks and creativity are implemented across all relevant channels.
According to Belbin, I’m a ‘Completer/Finisher’, which I’m pleased to say seems the perfect personality type for the industry I work in…

I am most certainly a perfectionist and have very high standards. Operating as a freelance consultant is probably best – as I have no one to delegate to and so no one to frustrate!
With over 20 years’ experience, I’ve worked both on the agency side and in-house. I’ve won numerous awards for the client work I’ve implemented and also for the success of BOTTLE, the PR agency I founded from my attic at 28 years of age and ran for nine years before selling in 2013.
